Mt Pleasant Town Hall Lobby Display
Mount Pleasant, SC was in the process of constructing a new town hall, and HW Exhibits, my employer, was chosen to conceptualize and design displays for the lobby of this innovative space.

I kept the design for this exhibit neutral and contemporary to complement the Town Hall’s architecture and interior finishes. Wood grains, watery blues, timeless fonts, and pops of silver are elements I selected for the brand.
This wall features a wooden map of Mount Pleasant, SC. I designed the map and icons to highlight features of the Town, and added 3D-lettering to complete the wall.
The panels tell the story of our town, our journey, our service, and our heart. Sconce boxes add a soft ambiance and anchor the design, while layered panels and a silver timeline add visual interest.
I created icons, or “moments,” that represent the Town of Mount Pleasant. The icons were printed on wood that matched the interior doors.
Being actively involved in enhancing my community, Mount Pleasant, brought immense joy. The challenge lay in creating a design that filled such an expansive space. Knowing the Town didn’t want the design to extend to the ceiling helped shape my vision. My favorite element of the design is the sweetgrass basket icon. I love how the use of negative space creates a pattern. The basket symbolizes the history, people, culture, and art of the Charleston, SC area.
Our team entered the design process after construction had started on the new town hall. The lobby of the building has gorgeous, soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. At first, we were planning to scale the full height of the lobby walls with our design, but we scaled back our ideas to accommodate client feedback and budgets. I was provided with the floor plan, elevations, and interior design finishes. I used these resources as a guide to develop the overall concept.
I spent some time at Mount Pleasant’s Waterfront Park (pictured here), capturing the sunset and the Ravenel Bridge to use as one of the photos on the lobby panels.
